Evan, hearing about Fred Wilson from you in class had me check out his artwork. I found this piece called "By Degree" to somewhat represent the Theodore Lewis article. Thanks for leading me to this artist. "By Degree" is open to much conversation.

In my exposure to Wilson's work I've seen what appears to be a critique of western museums' "expertise" or representation of foreign cultures. A quote of his that might suggest his motives reads; "Museums are not static institutions, they only seem to be. Their display techniques and vague labelling deliberately mask the changes that represent a society in flux and inter-museum debate". He goes on to note "Somehow, through the magic of museums, what museum professionals think is an educational or at least englightening experience turns out to be a conformation of stereotypes".
I think he is appropriately described with the acclaimed title of "artist/museum interventionist".
